Abstract:
(EN) A mechanical heart valve (11) having one or more leaflets (17) pivotally fitted in a substantially cylindrical shaped valve body (19) formed from a resiliently deformable material. A stiffening member (25) formed from substantially nonresilient material fit about the valve body exterior wall to provide structural integrity to the valve body (19). Stresses which are normally applied to the heart valve body during the opening and closing of the valve are absorbed or cushioned by the incorporation of a rubber-like body (26) between the stiffening member (25) and the retainer member (33). Further cushioning is provided by incorporating another rubber-like body (28) in the sewing ring (13). This second body extends out from the exterior surface of the valve body. Finally, a length of fabric (15) is positioned about the retainer (33) and shock absorbing bodies (26). This design provides a precisely calibrated rotational torque which allows for optimum orientation of the leaflets by the implanting surgeon.
(FR) Valvule cardiaque mécanique (11) comportant une ou plusieurs valves (17) montées pivotantes dans un corps (19) de valvule de forme cylindrique composé d'un matériau déformable de manière résiliente. Un élément de raidissement (25) en matériau non résilient s'adapte autour de la paroi extérieure du corps de valvule afin de donner une intégrité structurelle audit corps de valvule (19). Les contraintes normalement appliquées au corps de valvule cardiaque pendant l'ouverture et la fermeture de ladite valvule sont absorbées ou amorties par l'incorporation d'un corps analogue à du caoutchouc (26) entre l'élément de raidissement (25) et l'élément de rétention (33). On obtient davantage d'amortissement par l'incorporation d'un autre corps analogue à du caoutchouc (28) dans ladite bague de suture (13). Ce second corps s'étend à partir de la surface extérieure du corps de valvule. Enfin, une longueur de tissu (15) est positionné autour de l'élément de rétention (33) et des corps d'absorption des chocs (26). Cette conception fourni une torsion rotationnelle précisément étalonnée permettant une orientation optimale des valves par le chirurgien effectuant l'implantation.
