Abstract:
(EN) A method is described for extending the service life of implantable sensors having a corrodible reference electrode (4), at least one noble metal cathodic working electrode (6), and at least one noble metal anodic counter electrode (8) for the detection of oxygen and/or glucose in bodily fluids, which involves operating both the reference and the working electrodes with each in a first electrical state and prior to occurrence of sensor failure, changing the electrical state of at least one of the electrodes to a second electrical state and continuing operation in that second state beyond when the sensor would have failed had the first electrical state in both electrodes been maintained.
(FR) On décrit un procédé permettant d'allonger la vie utile de capteurs implantables munis d'une électrode de référence corrodable (4), d'au moins une électrode cathodique de travail (6) en métal noble et d'au moins une électrode anodique de comptage (8) en métal noble pour la détection d'oxygène et/ou de glucose dans les liquides corporels. Ledit procédé consiste à utiliser chacune des électrodes de référence et de travail dans un premier état électrique et, avant la survenue d'une panne de détecteur, à changer l'état électrique d'au moins une des électrodes à un deuxième état électrique, et à continuer à l'utiliser dans ce deuxième état au-delà du moment se serait produit la panne du deuxième détecteur si le premier état électrique des deux électrodes avait été maintenu.
