Abstract:
(EN) Particles in a fluid are counted by passing the fluid through an optical cell and an image of said particles is projected onto an array of charge coupled devices such that the area of the image of each particle at the said array is approximately the same as the area of at least a single charge coupled device, and signals from the individual charge coupled devices are processed to provide information concerning at least the number of said particles passing through the optical cell. A particle counter disclosed comprising an optical cell (1) through which is passed a fluid containing particles to be counted, means (2) for illuminating the particles in the optical cell and optical means (3) for providing an image of the particles on an array of charge coupled devices (5) such that the area of the image of each particle at the said array is approximately the same as the area of at least a single charge coupled device. The particles may fluoresce and a transmittance filter (4) may be provided.
(FR) On compte des particules dans un fluide en faisant passer le fluide au travers d'une cellule optique et en projetant une image desdites particules sur une rangée de dispositifs à accouplement de charge de sorte que la surface de l'image de chaque particule au niveau de ladite rangée soit à peu près égale à celle d'au moins un des dispositifs à accouplement de charge. On traite des signaux provenant de chacun desdits dispositifs afin d'obtenir des informations concernant au moins le nombre de particules qui passent dans la cellule optique. On décrit un compteur de particules qui comporte une cellule optique (1) dans laquelle passe un fluide qui contient les particules à compter, un dispositif (2) servant à éclairer les particules dans la cellule optique, et un dispositif optique (3) servant à former une image des particules sur une rangée de dispositifs (5) à accouplement de charge de sorte que la surface de l'image de chaque particule au niveau de ladite rangée soit à peu près égale à la surface d'au moins un desdits dispositifs. Les particules peuvent être fluorescentes, et l'on peut prévoir un filtre (4) à facteur de transmission.
