Abstract:
(EN) In a fast charging system, a hand-held computerized terminal with rechargeable batteries (15) may have volatile memory (21) and other components (21) requiring load current during charging. The system may automatically identify battery type and automatically adjust to different levels of load current. The battery temperature (11) may be brought into a relationship to surrounding temperature (13) such that by applying a suitable magnitude of current to the battery for a limited time, and observing any resultant temperature increase, any overcharge condition of the battery (15) can be determined. If the battery (15) is initially in the overcharge state or reaches such a state during fast charge, the system may automatically dynamically control the current supplied to the battery (15) such that battery temperature (11) is maintained generally above ambient temperature (13), thereby maintaining the battery in an optimum state of charge.
(FR) Dans le système de charge rapide de l'invention, une unité terminale à ordinateur tenue dans une main avec des batteries rechargeables (15) peut avoir une mémoire non rémanante (21) autres composants nécessitant un courant de charge pendant l'opération de charge. Le système peut identifier automatiquement le type de batterie et s'ajuster automatiquement aux différents niveaux de courant de charge. La température de la batterie (11) peut être prise en compte en relation à la température environnante (13) de sorte que, en appliquant une intensité appropriée de courant à la batterie pendant un temps limité et en observant toute éventuelle augmentation de température, on peut déterminer tout état de surcharge éventuelle de la batterie (15). Si la batterie (15) est initialement dans un état de surcharge ou atteint un tel état pendant une charge rapide, le système peut commander automatiquement et dynamiquement le courant alimentant la batterie (15), de sorte que la température de la batterie (11) soit maintenue d'une manière générale légèrement au-dessus de la température ambiante (13), permettant ainsi de maintenir la batterie dans un état optimal de charge.
