Abstract:
(EN) An aluminum based alloy is produced from a charge containing a rapidly solidified aluminum alloy and a carbidiferous agent in an amount ranging from about 0.01 to 10 % by weight of the charge. The charge is ball milled energetically to uniformly mix the carbidiferous agent within the aluminum base alloy while maintaining the charge in a pulverulent state. Upon completion of the ball milling step, the charge is hot consolidated at suitable temperatures to react the carbidiferous agent with the aluminum base alloy, resulting in the formation of carbide and oxide particles, and to provide a powder compact having a formable, substantially void-free mass. The compact is especially suited for use in aerospace, automotive, electronic, strength critical components, and the like, which often encounter service temperatures approaching 500 °C.
(FR) On produit un alliage à base d'aluminium à partir d'une charge contenant un alliage d'aluminium solidifié rapidement et d'un agent carburifère, en une quantité comprise entre 0.01 et 10 % en poids de la charge. On soumet la charge à un broyage à billes energique afin de mélanger uniformément l'agent carburifère dans l'alliage à base d'aluminium, tout en maintenant la charge à l'état pulvérulent. Une fois achevé l'étape de broyage à billes, on consolide à chaud ladite charge à des températures appropriées, afin de faire réagir l'agent carburifère avec l'alliage à base d'aluminium, ce qui a pour résultat la formation de particules de carbure et d'oxide, et afin de produire une poudre compact ayant une masse façonnable, exempte de vides. La masse compacte est particulièrement adaptée à un emploi dans des composants aérospatiaux, automobiles, électroniques et analogues présentant des caractéristiques de résistance critiques, rencontrant souvent des températures de service approchant 500 °C.
