Abstract:
(DE) Für die Einführung eines 16:9 Breitbildformates in bestehende Fernsehstandards (z.B. PAL, SECAM, NTSC) mit dem Format 4:3 wird das sogenannte 'letter-box'-Verfahren diskutiert. Formatinformationen werden als Zusatzinformation im sog. Ultra-Schwarz-Bereich übertragen. In das zusammengesetzte Videosignal (FBAS) wird eine Abhebung des Schwarzwertes eingefügt. Dadurch wird der Bezugswert für die Klemmung und damit der Schwarzwert verschoben. Die Zusatzinformation in dem so geschaffenen Ultra-Schwarz-Bereich kann mit höherem Signalpegel übertragen werden.
(EN) Being discussed at present is the so-called 'letter-box' method for the insertion of a 16:9 wide-picture format into existing standard systems (e.g. PAL, SECAM, NTSC) in 4:3 format. Format information is transmitted as auxiliary data in the so-called ultra-black region. The invention calls for an increase in black level to be inserted in the composite video signal (FBAS). This shifts the clamping reference value, thus shifting the black level. The additional information in the ultra-black region thus created can be transmitted at a high signal level.
(FR) Pour l'introduction d'un format grand écran 16:9 dans les types standards existants de télévision (par exemple, PAL, SECAM, NTSC) de format 4:3, le procédé connu sous le nom de 'letter-box' est décrit. Des informations de format sont transmises sous forme d'informations supplémentaires dans le domaine dit de l'ultra-noir. Dans le signal vidéo composé (FBAS), une élévation du niveau du noir le plus profond est insérée. La valeur de référence pour le blocage se trouve ainsi décalée et, de ce fait, également le niveau du noir le plus profond. L'information supplémentaire dans le domaine de l'ultra-noir ainsi créé peut être transmise avec un niveau de signaux plus élevé.
