Abstract:
(EN) An improved microcell system for cellular telephone systems has a plurality of contiguous cells (201, 202, 203, etc.), wherein the cells are configured in a plurality of clusters (241-246, etc.) with each cell in a cluster having a different assigned set of transmission frequencies. Each frequency is assignable to a given mobile telephone within the cell for all locations of the mobile telephone within the cell. Frequency handoffs are provided for maintaining continuous communication from cell to cell. Each cell is provided with antennas (13, 15, 17) arranged and configured to limit propagation of signals substantially to one of a plurality of regions within the boundaries of the cell. Transmission at any one frequency is confined to the zone (132, 152, 172) wherein the strongest signal is received from the mobile telephone. Accordingly, the clusters of cells may be arranged with a frequency reuse pattern of three (200) and a ratio of co-channel separation to cell radius of less than four.
(FR) Un système de microcellules amélioré pour systèmes téléphoniques cellulaires, comporte une pluralité de cellules contiguës (201, 202, 203, etc.) dans laquelle les cellules sont configurées en une pluralité de groupes (241, 246, etc.), chaque cellule se trouvant dans un groupe ayant un ensemble différent de fréquences de transmissions assignées. Chaque fréquence peut être assignée à un téléphone mobile donné se trouvant dans la cellule, pour tous les emplacements du téléphone mobile dans la cellule. On a prévu des transferts de fréquences permettant de maintenir une communication continue de cellule à cellule. Chaque cellule est dotée d'antennes (13, 15, 17) agencées et configurées afin de limiter la propagation de signaux vers une région d'une pluralité de régions se trouvant dans les limites de la cellule. La transmission à n'importe quelle fréquence est limitée à la zone (132, 152, 172) dans laquelle le signal le plus fort est reçu du téléphone mobile. Par conséquent, les groupes de cellules peuvent être agencés selon une configuration de réutilisation de fréquence de trois (200), et un rapport entre la séparation de cocanaux et le rayon des cellules inférieur à quatre.
