Abstract:
(EN) A thermal print method is disclosed for generating negative images on a recording medium with no more thermal energy than is required to produce a positive image with conventional thermal print systems. A recording medium (10) comprises a color donor layer (24) releasably adhered to a base substrate (20). A thin film ribbon (18) is pressed against the recording medium by a thermal print head (14). A positive thermal image is first formed in the print head (14) corresponding to the desired negative image. A negative image in the recording medium is then formed by transferring selected portions of the color donor layer from the recording medium to the thin film ribbon (18) by the application of thermal energy through the ribbon (18). Selected portions of the color donor layer are removed from the recording medium when the ribbon (18) is pulled away from the recording medium, leaving behind voids in the color donor layer that form a negative image.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé d'impression thermique permettant de générer des images négatives sur un support d'enregistrement sans autre énergie thermique que celle requise pour produire une image positive avec des systèmes classiques d'impression thermique. Un support d'enregistrement (10) comprend une couche de coloration (24) collée de manière libérable sur un substrat de base (20). Un ruban d'une fine pellicule (18) est pressé contre le support d'enregistrement à l'aide d'une tête d'impression thermique (14). Une image thermique positive est premièrement formée dans la tête d'impression (14) correspondant à l'image négative désirée. Une image négative dans le support d'enregistrement est ensuite formée en transférant des parties sélectionnées de la couche de coloration du milieu d'enregistrement au ruban à pellicule mince (18) par application d'énergie thermique par l'intermédiaire du ruban (18).
