Abstract:
(EN) Polyamide, polyurea, polyhydrazide, and polyurethane materials having substantially modified surfaces which are antimicrobial are disclosed. The disclosure also relates to selective ultraviolet (UV) photon irradiation, high energy electron irradiation low energy electron irradiation and chemical reducing processes for preparing such antimicrobial, polymeric materials. The disclosure further provides methods for controlling microorganisms, and products made from the antimicrobial, polymeric materials of this invention.
(FR) Des matériaux en polyamide, polyurée, polyhydrazide et polyuréthane ont des surfaces essentiellement modifiées de manière à devenir antimicrobiennes. Des procédés d'irradiation photonique sélective aux ultra-violets (UV), d'irradiation électronique à haute énergie ou à faible énergie et de réduction chimique permettent de préparer ces matériaux polymères antimicrobiens. L'invention concerne également des procédés qui permettent de combattre des micro-organismes, ainsi que des produits composés des matériaux polymères antimicrobiens décrits.
