Abstract:
(EN) A process is described for producing castings comprising the steps of introducing a charge of molten metal, e.g. aluminum into a mould, cooling the molten metal in the mould until the outer layer of the metal solidifies and contracts leaving a gap between the surface of the casting and the surface of the mould, injecting into the gap a gas having a different thermal conductivity than air whereby the rate of further cooling of the casting can be controlled, continuing the cooling of the casting and removing the casting from the mould.
(FR) L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de production de pièces coulées qui consiste à introduire une charge de métal en fusion, par exemple de l'aluminium, dans un moule, à refroidir le métal en fusion dans le moule jusqu'à ce que la couche externe du métal se solidifie et se contracte, laissant ainsi un interstice entre la surface de la pièce coulée et la surface du moule, à injecter dans cet interstice un gaz ayant une conductivité thermique différente de celle de l'air, de façon à permettre une régulation de la vitesse de refroidissement ultérieure de la pièce coulée, puis à poursuivre le refroidissement de la pièce coulée et à procéder ensuite à son démoulage.
