Abstract:
(EN) A camshaft drive mechanism operates the inlet valves of a first cylinder through a variable valve timing (VVT) mechanism (32) at one end of an engine block (12) and the inlet valves of a second cylinder through a VVT mechanism (35) at the other end of the block. In a four cylinder engine the first cylinder is No 1 and the second cylinder is No 4, cylinders Nos 2 and 3 having separate VVT mechanisms (33, 34) adjacent the VVT mechanisms of cylinders Nos 1 and 4 respectively. A preferred form of VVT mechanism includes an eccentric sleeve (51) which provides a journal for a driving member (36). Rotation of the eccentric sleeve in an offset bore (49) alters the valve timing. By having the offset equal to the eccentricity of the sleeve the potential wear of the components of the VVT mechanism is reduced.
(FR) Un mécanisme de transmission par arbre à came actionne les soupapes d'admission d'un premier cylindre au moyen d'un mécanisme (32) de synchronisation de soupape variable (VVT) à l'une des extrémités d'un bloc moteur (12) et les soupapes d'admission d'un second cylindre au moyen d'un mécanisme de synchronisation de soupape variable VVT (35) à l'autre extrémité du bloc. Dans un moteur quatre cylindres, le premier cylindre est le N°1 et le second cylindre est le N°4, les cylindres N°2 et N°3 possèdant des mécanismes de synchronisation VVT séparés (33, 34) adjacents aux mécanismes de synchronisation VVT des cylindres N°1 et N°4 respectivement. Une forme préférentielle de mécanisme de synchronisation VVT comprend un manchon excentrique (51) servant de portée pour un élément de transmission (36). La rotation du manchon excentrique dans un alésage décalé (49) modifie la synchronisation des soupapes. Avec le décalage égal à l'excentricité du manchon, l'usure potentielle des organes du mécanisme de synchronisation VVT est réduite.
