Device (28) to limit the flow of lubricant through the axial passage (18) of a shaft (10), characterized by the fact that it includes a member (36) which forms a transversal partition fixed in the axial passage and presenting an internal surface (40) toward the passage (18) and an external surface (38) toward the source of lubricant, a cavity (42) in the partition (36), at least one inlet (44) between the external surface (38) and the cavity (42), at least one evacuation orifice (46) between the external surface (38) and the cavity (42) and situated at a first distance of the axis (X-X) of the shaft (10) and at least one outlet (48) between the internal surface (40) and the cavity (42) and situated at a second distance from the axis (X-X) of the shaft (10) which is greater than the first distance, the outlet (48) having a predetermined section.
