A new copolymer comprising polycarbonate blocks of general formula (I), and polydimethylsiloxane blocks of general formula (II), wherein each symbol is as defined in the specification, having a polydimethylsiloxane block content of 0.5 to 10 wt%, a n-hexane solubles cotent of 1.0 wt% or below, and a viscosity-average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000. It has a high impact resistance and gives a molding material with a remarkably high Izod impact strength when mixed with glass fiber or the like.

Un nouveau copolymère comprend des blocs de polycarbonate ayant la formule générale (I) et des blocs en polydiméthylsiloxane ayant la formule générale (II), les symboles des formules étant définis dans la description. Le nouveau copolymère a une teneur en blocs de polydiméthylsiloxane comprise entre 0,5 et 10% en poids, une teneur en matières solubles n-hexanes inférieure ou égale à 1,0% en poids et une viscosité-poids moléculaire moyen comprise entre 10.000 et 50.000. Ce copolymère a une résistance élevée aux chocs et permet d'obtenir un matériau de moulage avec une résistance aux chocs extrêmement élevée selon Izod lorsqu'il est mélangé à des fibres de verre ou similaires.
