Abstract

A stenter system (1) comprises a preliminary stenter (2A) providing extrusion speed hold-back of film and, downline therefrom, a main stenter (2B) which includes an initial substantially parallel section (5) in which machine-direction stretching of the film takes place followed by a diverging section (D) where transverse stretching of the film occurs. A preferred film clip for use in this stenter system comprises a film holding/gripping element in the form of a plate (8) or a roller (19) and a clip body (6) for supporting the holding element (8, 19) which clip body can form part of a clip chain. The holding element (8, 19) is carried by the body (6) such that it can swing in a plane parallel to the machine direction into and from a film holding/gripping position, and the element is swung by means of an eccentric drive (9, 11, 13) actuated for example by cam surfaces (17, 18). On film gripping, the holding element (8, 19) can have a self-generating gripping action imparted thereon by the longitudinal film drawing force (P).

Un système à rame continue (1) comprend une rame continue préliminaire (2A) assurant la maîtrise de la vitesse d'extrusion du film et, en aval, une rame principale (2B) qui comprend une section initiale sensiblement parallèle (5) dans laquelle a lieu l'étirage du film dans le sens de la machine, suivie d'une section divergente (D) où se produit l'étirage transversal du film. Un dispositif de retenue préféré utilisé dans ce système à rame continue comporte un élément de fixation et de serrage du film sous la forme d'un disque (8) ou d'un rouleau presseur (19) et un corps de serrage (6) pour supporter l'élément de fixation (8, 19), lequel corps peut constituer une partie d'une chaîne de serrage. L'élément de fixation (8, 19) est porté par le corps (6) de manière à pouvoir pivoter dans un plan parallèle au sens de la machine vers et à partir d'une position de fixation et de serrage du film, et l'élément pivote à l'aide d'un entraînement excentrique (9, 11, 13) actionné par exemple grâce à des faces à cames (17, 18). Lors du serrage du film, la force de traction longitudinale du film (8) peut imprimer à l'élément de fixation (8, 19) une action de serrage se produisant automatiquement.
