Abstract

This disclosure concerns a casting die for a cylinder, including engine blocks having a plurality of cylinders such as for internal combustion engines, including an expendable core (20) for forming a jacket around the cylinders (12). This core (20) has a printout portion (22) at one end of the cylinder which is held in place by a cooperating flange (42) on a mandrel (40) that fits inside the cylinder (10). This mandrel (40) may hold a liner (44) for the cylinder (10). A dowel (50) is provided in one of the die parts (32) for insertion into the hollow mandrel (40). The mandrel (40) is held in position by being clamped between the two opposing die parts (33, 36) and the flanges of the core printout portion (24) may be loosely held in the printout cavity (33) of one of the die parts which preferably also contains one or more locating pins (52) for bridging at least part of the gap between the printout portion (22) and the printout cavity (33) in the die for better positioning the core (20) in the die.

L'invention concerne un moule de fonderie pour un cylindre, comprenant des blocs moteurs dotés d'une pluralité de cylindres, tels que pour des moteurs à combustion interne, comportant un noyau dilatable (20) destiné à former une enveloppe autour des cylindres (12). Ce noyau (20) comporte une partie d'impression (22) à une extrémité du cylindre lequel est maintenu en place par un rebord coopérant (42) sur un mandrin (40) s'adaptant à l'intérieur du cylindre (10). Ce mandrin (40) peut maintenir une chemise (44) destinée au cylindre (10). On a prévu un goujon (50) dans une des parties (32) du moule, destiné à être inséré dans le mandrin creux (40). Ledit mandrin (40) est maintenu en position par le fait qu'il est serré entre les deux parties de moule opposées (34, 36), les rebords de ladite partie d'impression du noyau (24) pouvant être maintenus sans être serrés dans la cavité d'impression (33) d'une des parties du moule, laquelle contient également de préférence une ou plusieurs tiges de localisation (52) afin d'établir une liaison au moins dans une partie de l'espace entre la partie d'impression (22) et la cavité d'impression (33) se trouvant dans le moule, afin de mieux positionner le noyau (20) dans le moule.
