Abstract
(EN)
An avalanche photodiode quenching circuit (20) incorporates an avalanche photodiode (APD) (22) and a first comparator (C1) responsive to reduction in APD voltage. The comparator (C1) is arranged to activate an APD quench circuit (38) in response to APD avalanche initiation. The circuit (20) also includes a second comparator (C2) arranged to reset the first comparator input (N2) in response to a further reduction in APD voltage caused by initiation of quenching. The second comparator (C2) is also connected to a monostable circuit (48) arranged to latch the first comparator output response to resetting. The monostable circuit (48) maintains the first comparator output level constant until the APD (22) has recharged.

Dans le circuit décrit (20), qui sert à l'extinction de photodiodes à avalanche, sont incorporés une photodiode à avalanche (APD) (22) et un premier comparateur (C1) réagissant à la réduction de la tension de l'APD. Le comparateur (C1) est destiné à activer un circuit d'extinction d'APD (38) en réponse à l'amorce du phénomène d'avalanche de l'APD. Le circuit (20) comporte également un second comparateur (C2) destiné à remettre à l'état initial l'entrée (N2) du premier comparateur, en réponse à une réduction ultérieure de la tension d'APD causée par le début de l'extinction. Le second comparateur (C2) est également connecté à un circuit monostable (48) destiné à verrouiller la réponse de sortie du premier comparateur contre toute remise à l'état initial. Le circuit monostable (48) maintient le niveau de sortie du premier comparateur constant jusqu'à ce que l'APD soit rechargée.
