A control system (34) is provided in a propulsion system (10) to automatically apply the right or left brake (28/30) on the respective drive unit (24/26) with respect to operator input conditions. In this arrangement, if the operator selects a clockwise steer of the vehicle (12), it will steer in the clockwise direction regardless of whether the vehicle is moving in the forward direction (F) or the reverse direction (R). Likewise, the same is true if the operator selects a counterclockwise steer direction (CCW) of the vehicle. This is accomplished by the control and logic systems (34, 64) sensing the travel direction of the vehicle, the steer direction of the vehicle, and automatically applying the proper brake (28/30) based on the input conditions. The control and logic systems (34, 64) set forth herein provides a selective independent control of respective right and left brakes (28, 30) to provide more precise control of the vehicle when operating in tight areas and on slopes.

Le système de commande décrit (34) est installé dans un système de propulsion (10) de façon à appliquer automatiquement le frein droit ou gauche (28/30) sur l'unité motrice correspondante (24/26) par rapport aux conditions entrées par l'opérateur. Dans un tel agencement, lorsque l'opérateur sélectionne une direction de virage du véhicule (12) dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre (CW), la direction du virage du véhicule s'effectue dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre, que le véhicule se déplace en marche avant (F) ou en marche arrière (R). L'agencement réagit de la même façon lorsque l'opérateur sélectionne une direction de virage du véhicule dans le sens contraire à celui des aiguilles d'une montre (CCW). Cette fonction est exécutée par les systèmes logique et de commande (34, 64), qui détectent la direction d'avance du véhicule et la direction de virage du véhicule, et qui actionnent automatiquement le frein correct (28/30) sur la base des conditions entrées. Les systèmes logique et de commande (34, 64) présentés ici assurent une commande indépendante sélective des freins droit et gauche respectifs (28, 30) pour permettre une commande plus précise du véhicule lors de man÷uvres dans des espaces étroits et sur des terrains en pente.
