Abstract
(EN)
An apparatus to produce a low oxygen containing gas in which exhaust gases from an engine (1) are cooled by passing them through a manifold cooler (2). Harmful gases are removed by passing the exhaust gases through a catalytic convertor (3) for removal of NOX. Air is injected and the exhaust gas passed through a further catalytic converter (5) for removal of CO. The exhaust gases are then cooled by passing them through an air to gas heat exchanger (6), and a series of water-cooled heat exchangers (7, 9 and 10) which are water-cooled and the resulting condensate removed by condensate drain (8). The water coolant is supplied by a closed circuit radiator system (15). The exhaust gases are then passed through a condensate knock-out screen (11) and two filter beds (12 and 13) for removal of moisture which may be regenerated by passing warm air derived from the air to gas heat exchanger (6) through them when not in use. The operation of the system is regulated by a fuel management system (16) which includes an oxygen sensor.

Dans l'appareil décrit, qui sert à produire un gaz à faible teneur en oxygène, on refroidit des gaz d'échappement provenant d'un moteur (1) en les faisant passer à travers un refroidisseur de collecteur (2). On retire les gaz nocifs en faisant passer les gaz d'échappement à travers un convertisseur catalytique (3) pour le retrait du NOX. On injecte de l'air et on fait passer les gaz d'échappement à travers un autre convertisseur catalytique (5) pour le retrait du CO. On refroidit ensuite les gaz d'échappement en les faisant passer à travers un échangeur de chaleur air-gaz (6) et à travers une série d'échangeurs de chaleur (7, 9 et 10) refroidis à l'eau, et le condensat qui en résulte est retiré au moyen d'un drain (8) pour condensat. L'eau de refroidissement est acheminée par un système de radiateur en circuit fermé (15). On fait ensuite passer les gaz d'échappement à travers un crible (11) d'éjection du condensat et à travers deux lits de filtres (12 et 13) de retrait de l'humidité, qui sont régénérés par passage d'air chaud provenant de l'échangeur de chaleur air-gaz (6) à travers eux en période de non utilisation. Le fonctionnement du système est régulé par un système de gestion de combustible (16) qui contient un capteur d'oxygène (non représenté).
