Die Signale werden blockweise verarbeitet. Bei blockweiser Codierung bzw. Decodierung von Signalblöcken können an den Blockgrenzen bei der Wiedergabe von bestimmten Bild- bzw. Tonsignalen Blockgrenzen störend sichtbar bzw. hörbar werden. Durch eine Nachfilterung (471, 472, 473) von transformierten, quantisierten und invers transformierten Signalabtastwerten im Coder bzw. von transformierten und invers transformierten Signalabtastwerten im Decoder wird eine Verringerung der Sichtbarkeit bzw. der Hörbarkeit von Signalsprüngen an Blockgrenzen erreicht.

The signals are processed in blocks. When signals are coded and decoded in blocks, the limits of the blocks may be visible or audible during reproduction of certain picture or audio signals, causing interference. By post-filtering (471, 472, 473) transformed, quantized and inversely transformed signal scanning values in the coder, or transformed and inversely transformed signal scanning values in the decoder, the visibility or audibility of signal jumps at the limits of blocks can be reduced.

Ces signaux sont traités par blocs. En codant ou en décodant des signaux par blocs, on risque de voir apparaître ou d'entendre les limites de blocs de manière désagréable lors de la reproduction. Grâce à un filtrage ultérieur (471, 472, 473) de valeurs de balayage de signaux transformés, quantifiés et inversement transformés dans le codeur ou de valeurs de balayage de signaux transformés et inversement transformés dans le décodeur, on arrive à réduire la visibilité ou l'audibilité de sautes de signaux au niveau des limites de blocs.
