Abstract

An induction melting and casting furnace (10) is described which includes casting stations (14, 16, 18) disposed around the melt chamber (12) of the furnace (10), each casting station (14, 16, 18) having a tundish (28, 32) for selectively transporting melt to the desired casting station (14, 16, 18). The furnace is modified so as to create apertures (34) in the walls of the melting chamber (12) to allow tundishes (28, 32) to enter the melt chamber (12) through fixed vacuum seals to receive molten metal from a tiltable melting unit (20) and to convey the melt through the vacuum gate valve to the desired casting station (14, 16, 18).

On décrit un four à induction pour fusion et coulée (10) qui comprend des postes de coulée (14, 16, 18) disposés autour de la chambre de fusion (12) dudit four (10), chaque poste de coulée (14, 16, 18) étant doté d'un avant-creuset (28, 32) pour le transfert sélectif du bain vers le poste de coulée choisi (14, 16, 18). Le four est modifié de manière à créer des ouvertures (34) dans les parois de la chambre de fusion (12), permettant ainsi aux avant-creusets (28, 32) d'entrer dans ladite chambre (12) à travers des joints à vide fixes afin de recevoir le métal fondu provenant d'une unité de fusion pouvant s'incliner (20) et de transporter la coulée à travers des soupapes d'arrêt à vide vers le poste de coulée choisi (14, 16, 18).
