Abstract

An improved transfer apparatus (10) for use in an electrostatographic copier including a dielectric member (26) adapted to carry electrostatically developed marking particle images. The transfer apparatus (10) comprises a cylindrical roller (12) mounted for rotation about its longitudinal axis and located such that its peripheral surface (16) is in operative relation with the dielectric member (26) of the copier. A receiver member is selectively tacked, at least at its lead marginal edge (RLE), on the peripheral surface of the roller (12) by vacuum attraction, such vacuum being effective through ports (48) in the roller. At least one trough (52a, 52b, 54) is formed in the roller substantially aligned with the vacuum ports. Such trough minimizes contact of the tacked lead edge of the receiver sheet to the peripheral surface of the roller, thereby facilitating release of the sheet from the roller at a desired time.

Un appareil amélioré de transfert (10) pour copieurs électrostatographiques comprend un organe diélectrique (26) qui porte des images à particules de marquage électrostatiquement développées. L'appareil de tranfert (10) comprend un rouleau cylindrique (12) rotatif autour de son axe longitudinal et agencé de telle sorte que sa surface périphérique (16) soit en relation fonctionnelle avec l'organe diélectrique (26) du copieur. Un organe récepteur est sélectivement fixé, au moins par son bord marginal d'attaque (RLE), sur la surface périphérique du rouleau (12), par aspiration à travers des orifices (48) du rouleau. Au moins une auge (52a, 52b, 54) est ménagée dans le rouleau, en alignement avec les orifices d'aspiration. Cette auge minimise le contact du bord d'attaque assujetti de la feuille de réception à la surface périphérique du rouleau, ce qui permet à la feuille de se détacher plus facilement du rouleau au moment voulu.
