Abstract

The present invention involves an appararus and method for generating energy, neutrons, tritium or heat as a specific form of energy. The apparatus comprises a material such as a metal having a lattice structure capable of accumulating isotopic hydrogen atoms and means for accumulating isotopic hydrogen atoms in the metal to a chemical potential sufficient to induce the generation of the specified items. The sufficient chemical potential is, for example, enough to induce generation of an amount of heat greater than a joule-heat equivalent used in accumulating the isotopic hydrogen atoms in the lattice structure to the desired chemical potential.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de production d'énergie, de neutrons, tritium ou de chaleur en tant que forme spécifique d'énergie. Ledit appareil comprend une matrice telle qu'un métal ayant une structure en treillis capable d'accumuler des atomes d'hydrogène isotopes, ainsi qu'un moyen permettant d'accumuler des atomes d'hydrogène isotopes dans le métal jusqu'à un potentiel chimique suffisant pour induire les diverses productions spécifiées. Le potentiel chimique suffisant est, par exemple, de nature à induire la production d'une quantité de chaleur supérieure à un joule équivalent thermique utilisée pour accumuler les atomes d'hydrogène isotopes dans la structure en treillis jusqu'au potentiel chimique voulu.
