Abstract:
(EN) Angioplasty and related medical dilatation balloons are molded from a polyurethane in which the 'soft' segment is a minor segment by weight and the 'hard' segment is the major segment by weight and which polyurethane has a hardness of at least 75D and a glass transition temperature of more than about 38°C. The balloons (2) can be integrally molded on one end (10) of a catheter (8) fabricated from the above type of polyurethane. Alternatively, the balloon (2) is formed from polyurethane of the above type and the catheter (8) is formed from elastomeric polyurethane and like polymers commonly employed in preparation of catheters. The balloon (2) is then bonded to the catheter (8) by conventional procedures.
(FR) Des ballons d'angioplastie et des ballons de dilatation médicaux apparentés sont moulés à partir d'un polyuréthane dans lequel le segment 'mou' est un segment mineur en poids et le segment 'sur' est un segment majeur en poids, ledit polyuréthane ayant une dureté d'au moins 75D et une température de transition du verre supérieure à environ 38°C. On peut mouler les ballons (2) d'une pièce sur une extrémité (10) d'un cathéter (8) fabriqué à partir du type de polyuréthane précité. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le ballon (2) est réalisé en polyuréthane du type précité et le cathéter (8) en polyuréthane élastomère et en polymères analogues utilisés couramment dans la préparation de cathéters. Ledit ballon (2) est ensuite lié au cathéter (8) par des techniques classiques.
