The sensor element disclosed comprises at least one outer and one inner pump electrode on an O2- ion-conducting solid electrode in the form of a small plate or a film. The inner pump electrode is arranged in a diffusion channel for the test gas, and consists of a porous three-dimensional noble metal electrode of thickness equal to the height of the diffusion channel and provided with a supporting frame. The inner pump electrode possesses a substantially improved current-carrying capacity and hence a longer service life than flat electrodes. A further advantage of the three-dimensional pump electrode is that it assumes a supporting function in the manufacture of the sensor element by ceramic film and screen printing technology during lamination.

Elément capteur pour capteurs de courant limite servant à déterminer la valeur de $g(l) de mélanges gazeux comportant, sur un électrolyte solide en forme de plaquette ou de feuille conductrice d'ions O2-, au moins une électrode de pompage externe et une électrode de pompage interne, l'électrode interne étant agencée dans un canal de diffusion pour le gaz de mesure. Elle est constituée d'une électrode poreuse à trois dimensions en métal noble, comportant un support et dont l'épaisseur correspond à la hauteur du canal de diffusion. Par rapport aux électrodes planes, l'électrode de pompage interne se caractérise par une charge admissible très supérieure, ce qui augmente la durée de vie de l'élément. Un autre avantage de la configuration à trois dimensions de l'électrode de pompage interne réside dans le fait qu'elle assure une fonction d'appui dans la fabrication de l'élément capteur par la technique des feuilles de céramique et de la sérigraphie pendant le laminage.
