Abstract:
(EN) Nylon/cotton blend fabrics containing at least 40 % by weight of nylon are rendered flame resistant and durable to multiple launderings in a two-step process in which a THP/urea precondensate/ammonia polymer network is formed within the cotton fiber structure then durability is enhanced in a second step in which a flame resistant cyclic phosphonate ester and a THP salt plus urea are applied. Durability up to 50 multiple washings and continued flame resistance for these nylon/cotton blend fabrics are reported.
(FR) On confère une résistance à la flamme et aux nettoyages répétés à des tissus en nylon et coton mélangés contenant au moins 40 % en poids de nylon, grâce à un procédé à deux étapes dans lequel on forme un réseau polymère de THP (tétrakis-(hydroxyméthyle)phosphonium)/précondensat d'urée/ammoniaque dans la structure fibreuse de coton, la durabilité étant ensuite augmentée dans une seconde étape consistant à appliquer un ester de phosponate cyclique résistant à la flamme, ainsi qu'un sel de THP à quoi s'ajoute de l'urée. On fait état d'une durabilité allant jusqu'à 50 lavages et d'une résistance prolongée à la flamme de ces tissus en nylon et coton mélangés.
