(FR) PROCEDE ET APPAREIL POUR MESURER DES DISTANCES
Abstract:
(EN) A method for measuring the distance between a first object, which incorporates a transmitter-receiver unit, and a second object, which incorporates a transponder. In accordance with the invention there is transmitted from the transmitter-receiver unit (19) a first microwave signal (S1), which is received in the transponder (18). A second signal (S3) of much lower frequency Fm is generated in the transponder and is modulated on a signal (S6) of microwave frequency in the transponder to form a modulated signal (S7). The modulated signal (S7) is transmitted from the transponder to the transmitter-receiver unit (19), where it is received and mixed down with the first signal (S1) and thereafter is a) low-pass filtered to form a first measuring signal (S10) having the frequency Fm, the phase of which corresponds to the phase difference between the first microwave signal (S1) and the microwave signal (S8) received in the transmitter-receiver unit (19) and b) de-modulated, thereby to form a second measuring signal (S12) having the frequency Fm, the phase of which corresponds to the phase of the second signal (S3) generated in the transponder (18). The phases of the two measuring signals (S10, S12) are compared in a phase comparison circuit (27) to form a difference therebetween, this difference being proportional to the distance between the objects.
(FR) Procédé pour mesurer la distance entre un premier objet qui incorpore un émetteur-récepteur et un second objet qui incorpore un répondeur. L'émetteur-récepteur (19) émet un premier signal d'hyperfréquence (S1) qui est reçu dans le répondeur (18). Un second signal (S3) d'une fréquence Fm bien inférieure est produit dans le répondeur et est modulé sur un signal (S6) d'hyperfréquence dans le répondeur afin de former un signal modulé (S7). Le signal modulé (S7) est transmis du répondeur à l'émetteur-récepteur (19) où il est reçu et mixé avec le premier signal (S1), après quoi il est a) filtré dans un filtre passe-bas pour former un premier signal de mesure (S10) possédant la fréquence Fm, dont la phase correspondant à la différence de phase entre le premier signal d'hyperfréquence (S1) et le signal d'hyperfréquence (S8) reçu dans l'émetteur-récepteur (19), et b) démodulé, pour ainsi former un second signal de mesure (S12) possédant la fréquence Fm, dont la phase correspond à la phase du second signal (S3) produit dans le répondeur (18). Les phases des deux signaux de mesure (S10, S12) sont comparées dans un circuit de comparaison de phase (27) pour former un différentiel de phase, ce différentiel étant proportionnel à la distance entre les objets.
