Abstract:
(EN) A thermally powered engine which obtains energy from a closed heat transfer loop. The engine has two power cylinders (22, 24). A piston (50, 56) is reciprocally mounted within each cylinder and divides the interior space of each cylinder into two portions (60, 61, 64, 65). A piston rod (52, 58) is affixed to each piston and extends through the upper closed end of each cylinder. A flexible diaphragm (68, 70) is mounted in the lower portion of each cylinder and with the lower closed end of the cylinder forms a power chamber (164, 166). A fluid fills the upper portion of both cylinders. A passageway (78) between the cylinders permits the fluid to act as a free piston causing the piston of the cylinder in its exhaust stroke to force refrigerant from its power chamber to the condenser of the heat transfer loop. Refrigerant from the evaporator of the heat transfer loop flowing into a power chamber forces the piston upward during the pistons power stroke.
(FR) Moteur thermique dérivant de l'énergie d'une boucle fermée de transfert thermique. Le moteur possède deux cylindres de puissance (22, 24). Un piston (50, 56) est monté à l'intérieur de chaque cylindre de manière à pouvoir effectuer un mouvement de va-et-vient et divise l'espace interne de chaque cylindre en deux parties (60, 61, 64, 65). Une bielle (52, 58) est fixée à chaque piston et s'étend à travers l'extrémité supérieure fermée de chaque cylindre. Un diaphragme flexible (68, 70) est monté dans la partie inférieure de chaque cylindre et forme une chambre de puissance (164, 166) avec l'extrémité inférieure fermée du cylindre. Un fluide remplit la partie supérieure des deux cylindres. Un passage (78) entre les cylindres permet au fluide de se comporter comme un piston libre, ce qui provoque l'écoulement forcé du réfrigérant de la chambre de puissance au condenseur de la boucle de transfert de chaleur sous l'effet de la course d'échappement du piston du cylindre. Le réfrigérant provenant de l'évaporateur de la boucle de transfert de chaleur s'écoulant dans une chambre de puissance pousse le piston vers le haut pendant la course motrice du piston.
