Abstract

A valve assembly (10) for anaesthetic apparatus has a first and second valve bodies (11, 12) fitted with respective first and second valve members (19, 30). Each valve member (19, 30) is a plug valve, rotatably mounted on its respective valve body (11, 12) having a diametrical bore (22, 31) and radial passage (23, 32) which operatively connects the inlet (16, 24) of the valve bodies (11, 12) to one or both of the outlets (17, 18; 25, 27) of the bodies. A lost motion mechanism (33) interconnects the valve members (19, 30) so that when the first valve member (19) is rotated by the lever (20) through 180o, the second valve member (30) will be rotated through 90o after the initial 90o rotation of the first valve member (19) in either direction. The valve assembly (10) is fitted to the anaesthetic apparatus for operation in either the controlled (Mapleson D/E) ventilation or spontaneous (Mapleson A) ventilation.

Un assemblage à vanne (10) pour un appareil d'anesthésie possède un premier et un second corps de vanne (11, 12) adaptés avec un premier et un second organes de vanne correspondants (19, 30). Chaque organe de vanne (19, 30) est un robinet à clef monté de manière rotative sur son corps de vanne respectif (11, 12), ayant un alésage diamétral (22, 31) et un passage radial (23, 32) qui relie de manière opérative l'entrée (16, 24) des corps de vanne (11, 12) à l'une ou aux deux des sorties (17, 18; 25, 27) des corps. Un mécanisme de perte de travail (33) relie les organes de vanne (19, 30) entre eux de sorte que, lorsque le premier organe de vanne (19) est tourné sur 180oC à l'aide de la manette (20), le second organe de vanne (30) tourne sur 90oC après rotation initiale de 90oC du premier organe de vanne (19) dans une direction ou dans l'autre. L'assemblage de vanne (10) est adapté à l'appareil d'anesthésie pour fonctionner suivant l'un ou l'autre des modes de ventilation commandée (Mapleson D/E) ou ventilation spontanée (Mapleson A).
