Novel methods and novel industrial unicellular microorganism strains, particularly industrial $i(Bacillus) strains, are provided for enhanced production of endogenous and exogenous polypeptides. Cloning vehicles containing one or more copies of the gene expressing the polypeptide of interest are introduced into a compatible host, the transformed hosts treated to form protoplasts and then fused with protoplast acceptors prepared from industrial strains. Efficient transfer of the vehicle containing the genes of interest is achieved, with the resulting modified industrial strains being effective producers of the desired polypeptide product.

Nouveaux procédés et nouvelles souches de micro-organismes unicellulaires industrielles en particulier des souches $i(bacillaires) industrielles destinées à augmenter la production de polypeptides endogènes et exogènes. Des véhicules de clonage contenant une ou plusieurs copies du gène d'expression du polypeptide présentant un intérêt sont introduits dans un hôte compatible, puis les hôtes transformés sont traités pour former des protoplastes lesquels sont ensuite fusionnés avec des accepteurs de protoplastes préparés à partir de souches industrielles. On obtient un transfert efficace du véhicule contenant les gènes d'intérêt, les souches industrielles modifiées obtenues étant des producteurs efficaces du produit polypeptide désiré.
