Abstract

An oil cooled and hydraulically operated clutch assembly in which a clutch (10) is contained within an incapsulating clutch housing (18). An output shaft (20) passes through an aperture in the rear of the housing (18), the forward end of the housing being secured to an engine flywheel (12). Sealing means (52, 84) provide an oil seal between the periphery of the output shaft, the aperture, and a stationary annular member (24) which extends through the aperture and provides various fluid passageways into the housing. An annular piston (56) is disposed within the housing and is caused to be moved between disengaged and engaged positions by hydraulic pressure to engage the clutch. A separate supply of coolant is fed into the housing to cool the clutch, this coolant being scavenged by a scavenging means which includes a pitot-like tube (94). A centrifugal check valve assembly (60) facilitates discharge a hydraulic fluid from the chamber (54) when not pressurised. An output shaft brake (16) may be fitted.

Dans un assemblage d'embrayage actionné hydrauliquement et refroidi à l'huile, un embrayage (10) est contenu dans une enceinte d'encapsulation (18) de l'embrayage. Un arbre de sortie (20) passe au travers d'une ouverture aménagée à l'arrière de l'enceinte (18), l'extrémité avant de l'enceinte étant fixée à un volant (12) d'un moteur. Des moyens d'étanchéité (52, 84) forment un joint d'étanchéité d'huile entre la périphérie de l'arbre de sortie, l'ouverture, et un organe annulaire stationnaire (24) qui s'étend au travers de l'ouverture et forme divers passages de fluide dans l'enceinte. Un piston annulaire (56) est monté dans l'enceinte et peut se déplacer entre des positions engagées et dégagées par une pression hydraulique pour embrayer. Une alimentation séparée d'un réfrigérant est amenée dans l'enceinte pour refroidir l'embrayage, ce réfrigérant étant récupéré par des moyens de récupération qui comprennent un tube similaire à un tube de Pitot (94). Une soupape de retenue centrifuge (60) facilite la décharge d'un fluide hydraulique depuis la chambre (54) lorsqu'elle n'est pas pressurisée. Un frein (16) de l'arbre de sortie peut être monté.
