Water dispersible binders for cationic electrophoretic lacquers based on modified epoxy resins. The binders are reaction products A) of epoxy resins having a low molecular weight, containing aromatic groups and having an epoxy equivalent weight lower than 375, B) aliphatic and/or alicyclic polyfunctional alcohols and/or of carbonic acids with a molecular weight lower than 350, the intermediary product obtained from A) and from B) having a content of aromatic groups, counted as phenyl groups, ranging from 10 to 45 %, C) polyfunctional alcohols, carbonic acids and/or SH bonds with a molecular weight ranging from 500 to 5000 and D) of aminoalcohols carrying at least one capped primary nitrogen atom or one tertiary nitrogen atom.

Liants pouvant être dispersés dans l"eau pour laques électro-phorétiques cationiques à base de résines époxydes modifiées. Les liants sont des produits de réaction (A) de résines époxydes de faible poids moléculaire, contenant des groupes aromatiques et d"un poids équivalent d"époxydes inférieur à 375, (B) d"alcools polyfunctionnels aliphatiques et/ou alicycliques et/ou d"acides carboniques avec un poids moléculaire inférieur à 350, le produit intermédiaire obtenu à partir de (A) et de (B) ayant une teneur en groupes aromatiques, comptés comme groupes phényles, de 10 à 45%, (C) d"alcools polyfonctionnels, d"acides carboniques et/ou de liaisons SH avec un poids moléculaire se situant entre 500 et 5000 et (D) d"aminoalcools portant au moins un atome d"azote primaire coiffé ou un atome d"azote tertiaire.
