Abstract:
(EN) A preform (31) from which lightguide fiber is drawn is made by depositing optically suitable layers of doped silicon dioxide on an inner wall of a rotating glass substrate tube (31) which is exposed to a moving zone of heat (50) during a deposition mode and during a collapse mode. During at least a first pass following the deposition mode, a contact device (101, 102) is caused to engage each successive increment of length of the tube during exposure to the zone of heat. The contact device causes any sagged or offset portions of the tube to be reconfigured and causes the tube (31) to have a central longitudinal axis which is a straight line which extends between stocks of a lathe by which ends of the tube are supported. The contact device (101, 102) may also be used to cause the tube to have a predetermined configuration along its length. The position of the contact device relative to the maximum temperature within the moving zone of heat for each increment of length of the glass tube allows the shape of the tube to be changed and allows that shape to be retained.
(FR) Une ébauche (31) à partir de laquelle on étire une fibre optique est obtenue en déposant des couches ayant des caractéristiques optiques appropriées de dioxyde de silicium dopé sur une paroi interne d'un tube (31) de substrat en verre en rotation qui est exposé à une zone mobile de chaleur (50) pendant un mode de dépôt et pendant un mode d'affaissement. Pendant au moins un premier passage suivant le mode de dépôt, on provoque l'engagement par un dispositif de contact (101, 102) de chaque incrément successif de longueur du tube pendant l'exposition à la zone de chaleur. Le dispositif de contact provoque la reconfiguration de toute partie affaissée ou décalée du tube et permet au tube (31) d'avoir un axe central longitudinal qui est une ligne droite s'étendant entre les supports d'un tour qui maintiennent les extrémités du tube. Le dispositif de contact (101, 102) peut également être utilisé pour donner au tube une configuration prédéterminée sur sa longueur. La position du dispositif de contact par rapport à la température maximum à l'intérieur de la zone mobile de chaleur pour chaque incrément de longueur du tube de verre permet de modifier la forme du tube et de maintenir cette forme.
