(EN)A continuous tube (T) is formed by spirally-winding an extruded thermoplastic ribbon (R) having mating edges which are joined together to form a spiral seam and having at least one reinforcing rib (3) which, when in its spiral wrapped form, projects radially out from the tube. At predetermined lengths, the tube is cut and at the same time the outer surfaces of the tube on each side of the cut are shaped to facilitate handling and interconnecting of pipe section (1) thus formed. At least one end of the pipe has an annular groove (6) at a uniform distance from that end. This groove is formed by cutting a path through each of the radially extending reinforcing ribs intersecting its annular path. An elastomeric O-ring (8) engages the outer surface of the pipe and the axial movement of the O-ring is restrained by the walls of the groove formed by the radially extending reinforcing ribs. An apparatus (30) for cutting the tube at predetermined lengths into pipe sections while the tube is proceeding out of the spirally-winding operation also imparts to the outer surfaces the desired shape as well as cuts the groove for the elastomeric O-ring. This apparatus performs this cutting and shaping operation without interrupting the continuous forming of the tube from the spirally-wound thermoplastic ribbon.
(FR)Un tube continu (T) est forme en enroulant en spirale un ruban thermoplastique extrude (R) ayant des bords d'accouplement qui sont joints pour former une couture en spirale et ayant au moins une nervure de renforcement (3) qui, lorsqu'elle est dans sa forme enroulee en spirale, se projette radialement vers l'exterieur du tube. Le tube est coupe a des longueurs predeterminees, et en meme temps les surfaces externes du tube de chaque cote de la coupure sont faconnees pour faciliter la manipulation et l'interconnexion de la section de tube (1) ainsi formee. Au moins une extremite du tube possede une rainure annulaire (6) a une distance uniforme a partir de cette extremite. Cette rainure est formee en decoupant un chemin au travers de chacune des nervures de renforcement radiales coupant son chemin annulaire. Un joint torique elastomere (8) engage la surface externe du tuyau et le mouvement axial du joint torique est limite par les parois de la rainure formee par les nervures de renforcement radiales. Un appareil (30) de coupage du tube a des longueurs predeterminees en sections de tuyaux pendant que le tube sort de la station d'enroulement en spirale donne aussi aux surfaces externes la forme desiree, de meme qu'il taille la rainure pour le joint torique elastomere. Cet appareil effectue cette operation de decoupage et de formage sans interrompre la formation continue du tube avec le ruban thermoplastique enroule en spirale.
