(EN)A vacuum motor comprising a housing (16) with an eccentrically mounted rotor (100) composed of a rotorbody having a plurality of radially extending equispaced slits (402, 404) extending axially and a plurality of slidable vane members (406), one of which is in each of said rotor slits; there are a plurality of passageways (32, 44) in a sleeve (40) coaxially lining the stator and a pair of space holes (62) and (64) are provided in a control member (46) slidably captivated on the stator to selectively control suction forces applied to the vanes from a source (66, 70, 72) and (90) so as to provide a differential pressure on one of the vanes on one face while the other face of the vane is exposed to atmospheric pressure, whereby upon selective operation of a trigger mechanism (82) to control suction application, the rotor (100) will turn to deliver power to drive a gear train (200) or other suitable mechanical mechanism for producing useful work. Operating members (58) and (60) connected to control member (46) are rotated to reverse the direction of motor rotation.
