(EN)A process for the production of ferrous metals or alloys thereof in which Zn and other heavy metals are recovered from the iron-bearing flue dust and the iron dust residue is returned to the furnace. The iron bearing flue dust is first separated from the furnace flue gases and leached in an alkali metal hydroxide solution having a concentration greater than 5m and pulp density of 1:1.5 to 1:8 at a temperature between 80 C and the boiling point of the solution. The residue is then separated from the pregnant solution and washed before it is returned to the furnace. After purification and clarification of the pregnant solution, the Zn and other heavy metals are recovered to regenerate the solution which is subsequently recycled. After the iron dust residue has been washed it may be roasted with sodium carbonate at above 700 C and leached in a caustic solution. Also, the flue dust may be subject to a dilute leach the dilute leach residue then being reduced by roasting prior to the main leached step.00
(FR)Procede de production de metaux ferreux ou de leurs alliages, dans lequel Zn et d"autres metaux lourds sont recuperes a partir de poussieres de fumees recelant du fer et le residu de poussiere de fer est renvoye au four. La poussiere de fumee contenant du fer est d"abord separee des gaz de fumee du four puis filtree dans une solution d"hydroxyde metallique alcalin ayant une concentration superieure a 5m et une densite de pulpe de 1 : 1,5 a 1 : 8 a une temperature comprise entre 80 C et le point d"ebullition de la solution. Le residu est alors separe de la solution saturee puis lave avant d"etre renvoye au four. Apres purification et clarification de la solution saturee, le zinc et d"autres metaux lourds sont recuperes pour regenerer la solution qui est ensuite recyclee. Apres lavage du residu de poussiere de fer, le residu peut etre grille avec du carbonate de sodium a une temperature superieure a 700 C puis filtre dans une solution caustique. De plus, la poussiere de fumee peut etre soumise a une lessive diluee, le residu de lessive diluee etant alors reduit par grillage avant de passer a l"etape de filtrage principal.
