(EN)Pictorial images of selected volume elements of materials are generated by a contactless, non-destructive, susbstantially hazardfree tomographic technique in which the material is brought within the influence of a relatively lowstrength electromagnetic field and subjected to plural preselected frequencies to provide output data which is used to generate an image reflective of the magnetic and/ or electric and/or conductance properties of the selected volume elements. This data has a high volume information content which enables accurate and reproducible identification of the material under investigation. The technique has application in the medical diagnostic field such as for example in aiding in the detection of small areas of cancerous tissue present in a larger mass of healthy tissue.
(FR)Des images d'elements de volume selectionne de materiaux sont produites par une technique tomographique sans contact, non destructive et sensiblement sans risque dans laquelle le materiau est expose a l'influence d'un champ electromagnetique d'une puissance relativement faible et soumis a plusieurs frequences predeterminees pour permettre d'obtenir des donnees de sortie utilisees pour produire une image reproduisant les proprietes magnetiques et/ou electriques et/ou de conductance des elements de volume selectionne. Ces donnees possedent un contenu eleve d'informations permettant une identification precise et reproductible du materiau a examiner. Cette technique trouve une application dans le domaine diagnostic medical, par exemple dans la detection de petites zones de tissus cancereux presentes dans une masse plus etendue de tissus sains.
