(EN)A tungsten free hard alloy consists of titanium diboride, titanium carbide and a binding agent. The tungsten free hard alloy contains as a binding agent at least one of the metals of subgroup IB of the periodical system which are inactive to boron or an alloy based on one of those metals. The components ratio of the tungsten free hard alloy is the following in% by mass: titanium diboride ........ 40-60, binding agent.............. 3-30, titanium carbide......... balance The tungsten free hard alloy of the said composition has a porosity of no less than 1%. The method of making the tungsten free hard alloy comprises preparing an initial blend by mixing the titanium, boron and carbon powders, pressing them, a setting local fire to the blend to initiate an exothermic reaction of titanium with boron and carbon, the reaction then proceeding by itself in the combustion regime and spreading throughout the whole of the blend due to the heat transfer from the heated layers of the blend to the cold ones. During the preparation of the blend, are added to it, either the powder of at least one of the metals of subgroup IB of the periodical system which are inactive to boron or the powder of an alloy based on one of those metals or the powders of metals which form the said alloy under the conditions of the said exothermic reaction. After finishing the exotermic reaction the thus obtained hard-liquid reaction mass is then pressed up to reacting a porosity of less than 1%.
(FR)Un alliage dur sans tungstene comprend du diborure de titane, du carbure de titane et un agent de liaison. L"alliage dur sans tungstene contient comme agent de liaison au moins un des metaux du sous groupe IB du systeme periodique qui ne sont pas reactifs vis a vis du bore ou un alliage base sur l"un de ces metaux. Les taux des composants de l"alliage dur sans tungstene sont les suivants, en% en masse: diborure de titane........... 40-60; agent de liaison.............. 3-30; carbure de titane........... le reste. L"alliage dur sans tungstene de ladite composition possede une porosite qui n"est pas inferieure a 1%. Le procede de fabrication de l"alliage dur sans tungstene consiste a preparer un melange initial en melangeant les poudres de titane, bore et carbone, en les comprimant, en l"allumant localement pour initier une reaction exothermique du titane avec le bore et le carbone, la reaction se poursuivant d"elle-meme et se propageant a tout le melange grace au transfert de chaleur provenant des couches chauffees du melange vers les couches froides. Pendant la preparation du melange on y ajoute, soit la poudre d"au moins l"un des metaux du sous groupe IB du systeme periodique qui ne sont pas reactifs vis a vis du bore, soit la poudre d"un alliage basee sur l"un de ces metaux, soit les poudres de metaux qui forment ledit alliage dans les conditions de ladite reaction exothermique. A la fin de la reaction exothermique la masse de reaction solide-liquide obtenue est alors comprimee jusqu"a obtenir une porosite inferieure a 1%.
