(EN)In a direct heated grid cathode shaped as a one-piece hollow metallic cylinder the working surface has a form of intercrossing spiral-like filaments (3 and 4) with openings (5) between them, the thickness of each of the filaments (3 and4) increasing in steps in the direction from the edges to the centre of the cathode. A method of making the cathode comprises manufacturing an electrode-instrument out of a plate by means of electro-erosion cutting out slots on the butt-end of the plate and thus forming, therebetween, protrusions corresponding by their form to the openings (5) between the filaments (3 and 4) of the cathode and subsequent broaching with this electrode-instrument lengthwise rows of openings (5) in the hollow cylindrical workpiece which is turned after each operation at an angle equal to a double angular distance between the middle lines of the adjacent rows of the openings (5) in the cathode. The slots in the plate are cut in such a manner that after each operation of the electrode-instrument through the workpiece are formed full openings (5) of one lengthwise row, halves of the openings (5) of the two adjacent rows and the corresponding sections of the filaments (3 and 4) located therebetween.
(FR)Dans une cathode a grille chauffee directement, ayant la forme d"un cylindre metallique creux en un seul bloc, la surface de travail se presente sous la forme de filaments tels que des spirales entrecroisees (3 et 4) avec des ouvertures (5) entre les filaments, l"epaisseur de chacun des filaments (3 et 4) augmentant par etapes dans le sens allant des bords de la cathode vers son centre. Un procede de fabrication de la cathode consiste a fabriquer un instrument-electrode a partir d"une plaque en decoupant par electro-erosion des fentes sur l"extremite en bout de la plaque, formant ainsi entre les fentes des saillies correspondant par leur forme aux ouvertures (5) entre les filaments (3 et 4) de la cathode, puis a brocher avec cet instrument-electrode dans le sens de la longueur des rangees d"ouvertures (5) dans la piece a usiner creuse cylindrique qui est tournee apres chaque operation d"un angle egal a une distance angulaire double entre les lignes medianes des rangees adjacentes des ouvertures (5) de la cathode. Les fentes dans la plaque sont decoupees de telle maniere qu"apres chaque operation de l"instrument-electrode au travers de la piece a usiner, l"on obtienne des ouvertures totales (5) d"une rangee longitudinale, des moities d"ouvertures (5) de deux rangees adjacentes et les sections correspondantes des filaments (3 et 4) positionnees entre elles.
