(EN)A method of obtaining monochlorohydrin or dichlorohydrin alcohols of saturated series containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms consists in chlorohydroxylation of unsaturated hydrocarbons containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms and having one or two double bonds. The chlorohydroxylation of the unsaturated hydrocarbons is effected in the course of electrolysis of the aqueous solution of muriatic hydrochloric acid or of the acid solutions of chlorides of alkaline and/or alkaline earth metals by way of feeding those unsaturated hidrocarbons into said solutions, the electrolysis being carried out at a concentration of chlorine ions in those solutions equal to 1 to 4 g-ions per litre, at an anode-current density of 0.10 to 0.30 A/cm2 and at a temperature of 40 to 75 C.
