(EN)An active fraction containing a mutagenicity-inhibiting material, which is a water-soluble material isolated and purified from burdock juice, which is adsorbed on an anion exchange cellulose but not on a cation exchange cellulose, and which has an absorption peak at 280 nm to 300nm, and a process for isolating and purifying same. This active fraction not only inhibits mutagenicity of a mutagenic material causing mutation through metabolism, but also inhibits mutagenicity of a mutagenic material causing mutation without metabolism. The inhibition activity is not substantially reduced by heat treatment at 100 C for 15 hours or by treatment with protease, but is seriously reduced by manganese ion.

Cette fraction active inhibe la mutagenicite d"un materiau mutagene soit en provoquant une mutation au travers du metabolisme, soit en provoquant une mutation sans le metabolisme. L"activite d"inhibition n"est pas reduite sensiblement par un traitement par la chaleur a 100 C pendant quinze heures ou par un traitement avec une protease, mais est considerablement reduit par des ions de manganese.
