(EN)In the manufacture of basic aluminium chloride and/or basic aluminium sulphate chloride from aluminium raw material, aluminium chloride and optionally a water-soluble sulphate together with a quantity of water at least corresponding to the number of moles of chloride to be removed from the aluminium chloride may be heated to a temperature of 100-700 C. The duration of the heating treatment depends on the temperature selected, so as to obtain a crystalline basic aluminium chloride or a cry basic aluminium sulphate chloride of the desired basicity. The method may also be applied in the manufacture of substantially iron-free basic aluminium chloride and/or basic aluminium sulphate chloride from iron-containing bauxite, shale or other iron containing aluminium minerals, wherein is involved a precipitation of an aluminium sulphate chloride of low iron content with hydro-chloric acid gas. Hydrochloric acid gas released during the heating process is returned to the precipitation stage.

La duree du traitement de chauffage depend de la temperature choisie de maniere a obtenir un chlorure d"aluminium basique cristallin ou un chlorure de sulfate d"aluminium basique cristallin de basicite desiree. Le procede peut egalement etre applique a la fabrication de chlorure d"aluminium basique sensiblement exempt de fer et/ou de chlorure de sulfate d"aluminium basique exempt de fer a partir de bauxite contenant du fer, du schiste ou autres minerais d"aluminium contenant du fer, lequel comprend une precipitation d"un chlorure de sulfate d"aluminium de faible teneur en fer avec du gaz d"acide chlorhydrique. Le gaz d"acide chlorhydrique libere pendant le procede de chauffage est renvoye a l"etage de precipitation.
