(EN)A pipe wrench/ wrench consisting of a shank with an involute jaw and a loose jaw pivotally connected hereto which can be plane or consist of planes forming angles to each other. The jaws can be toothed. The centre of the circle belonging to the involute lies on or close to the axis of rotation. During the relative rotation of the jaws, the point of the involute (relative to the loose jaw) which touches pipes of a diameter corresponding to the jaw gap will always lie on the same straight or almost straight line as intersects the involute at right angles, and it is possible to use either the concave or the convex side of the involute as jaw face. Pipes which are actuated will, at intervals of approx. 120 , receive a chiefly radially directed normal force K which is proportional to the moment actuating the pipe, irrespective of the pipe diameter.
(FR)Une cle a tube/cle comprend un manche avec une machoire a developpante et une machoire libre qui y est rattachee de maniere pivotante, pouvant former un plan ou des plans formant des angles les uns par rapport aux autres. Les machoires peuvent etre dentees. Le centre du cercle appartenant a la developpante se trouve sur ou a proximite de l"axe de rotation. Pendant la rotation relative des machoires, le point de la developpante (par rapport a la machoire libre) qui touche les tubes d"un diametre correspondant a l"espace de la machoire se trouvera toujours sur la meme ligne droite ou presque qui intersecte la developpante a angle droit, et il est possible d"utiliser soit le cote concave soit le cote convexe de la developpante comme face de la machoire. Les tubes actionnes recoivent, a des intervalles d"environ 120 , une force normale sensiblement radiale (K) qui est proportionnelle au moment d"actionnement du tube, independamment du diametre du tube.
