In a data receiver (40) for a quadrature-amplitude-modulated signal s (t) having symbol interval T, which is at least equal to the Nyquist frequency. With the sampling being performed at this rate, the functions conventionally provided by individual bandpass filter (12), phase splitter (14) and equalizer (22) circuits are performed by a single transversal filter equalizer (122). Tap coefficents for the transversal filter equalizer are derived in a decision-directed manner. The tendency of the tap coefficient values to drift is suppressed by adding energy to the received signal at frequencies within the band (0-n/2T) Hz at which the received signal has negligible energy.

Dans un recepteur de donnees (40) pour un signal a quadrature d"amplitude modulees (t) ayant un intervalle de symbole T au moins egal a la frequence Nyquist. L"echantillonnage etant effectue a cette vitesse, les fonctions etablies conventionnellement par les circuits du filtre a bande passante individuelle (12), du diviseur de phase (14) et du correcteur de la distorsion (22) sont etablies par un simple correcteur de la distorsion du filtre transversal (122). Des coefficients de derivation pour le correcteur de distorsion de filtre transversal sont derives suivant un mode par decision. La tendance des valeurs des coefficients de derivation a glisser est supprimee par addition d"energie au signal recu a des frequences situees dans la bande (0 - n/2T) Hz dans laquelle le signal recu possede une energie negligeable.
