(EN)The device comprises a braking lever (3) arranged at a side of a vehicle wheel (2) and of which the lower end is coupled to the lower end of another braking lever (17) through a cross-bar (10) and two tie rods (13, 14) arranged on both sides of the wheel (2). Both levers (3, 17) are provided with shoes (6, 18) which may be applied on the wheel (2). The cross-bar (10) and the tie rods (13, 14) are provided with an adjusting mechanism. Each tie rod (13, 14) has its longitudinal adjusting member consisting of a threaded rod (25, 26) and a nut. A common control for both longitudinal adjusting members is fixed on the cross-bar (10). A common drive acts on a central toothed wheel (24) in mesh with two lateral toothed wheels (22, 23) which rotate the threaded rods (25, 26). The central wheel (24) is rotatingly driven by means of a transmission comprising a free wheel clutch (34, 35) and converting a rectilinear motion into a rotary motion. Alternatively, the control may be arranged so that it drives the threaded rods (25", 26") by means of individual clutches.
