(EN)A process for the treating of and/or removal of substances from a liquid, especially whole blood, via a semipermeable microporous membrane (13, 14, 15) through adsorption and/or biological reaction by means of a biologically active material. Said whole blood is exposed to pressure variations at the membrane surface in a way such that a penetrating fraction of said whole blood is flowing in an alternating flow path through the membrane walls for contacting said biologically active material. Said biologically active material is asymmetrically immobilized in and on the surface of the side of said membrane that faces away from said whole blood. Alternatively, said biologically active material may be bound to an unsoluble matrix behind said membrane. Said membrane is for example provided within a casing (7, 8, 9) comprising inlet (10) and outlet (11) for said whole blood. The space between said casing and said membrane is via a connecting nipple (12) in communication with for example an expansion chamber for the provision of pressure variations. By means of the device (3) it is possible to perform said process in one and the same step and by means of one and the same pumping system. Example of suitable materials for said membrane are regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, non-woven acrylic copolymer, polysulphone, polyether sulphone, polyacrylonitrile, polyamide and the like. The pores of said membrane are usually of the order of magnitude of 0.01 - 0.8 microns, preferably 0.15 - 0.45 microns. The choice of biologically active material is determined primarily by the type of substance that is to be removed.
(FR)Procede de traitement et/ou d"elimination de substances d"un liquide specialement du sang au travers d"une membrane micro poreuse semi-permeable (13, 14, 15) par adsorption et/ou reaction biologique a l"aide d"un materiau biologiquement actif. Ledit sang entier est expose a des variations de pression a la surface de la membrane de facon telle qu"une fraction de penetration dudit sang s"ecoule le long d"un passage d"ecoulement alternatif au travers des parois de la membrane pour etre en contact avec le materiau biologiquement actif. Ce materiau biologiquement actif est asymetriquement immobilise dans et sur la surface du cote de ladite membrane qui est a l"oppose du sang. En variante, ce materiau biologiquement actif peut etre lie a une matrice insoluble derriere ladite membrane. Ladite membrane se trouve par exemple, a l"interieur d"une enceinte (7, 8, 9) comprenant une entree (10) et une sortie (11) pour le sang entier. L"espace entre l"enceinte et la membrane communique via un raccord de connexion (12) avec, par exemple, une chambre d"expansion pour produire des variations de pression. Au moyen du dispositif (3) il est possible d"appliquer ce procede en une seule et meme etape et au moyen d"un seul et meme systeme de pompage. Des exemples de materiaux convenables pour la membrane sont la cellulose regeneree, l"acetate de cellulose, des copolymeres acryliques non-tisses, la polysulphone, le polyether de sulphone, le polyacrylonitrile, le polyamide et analogues. Les pores de ladite membrane sont generalement de l"ordre de grandeur entre 0,01-0,8 microns, de preference 0,15-0,45 microns. Le choix du materiau biologiquement actif est determine en premier lieu par le type de la substance qui doit etre eliminee.
