Abstract:
(EN) On-site wastewater treatment system suitable for treatment of domestic or other sewage. Incoming wastewater is passed into a septic tank (1) with the effluent then passed into a basin (3) holding particles of a media (5) through which the effluent travels. The media (5) removes a substantial amount of the suspended solids in the effluent and some of the BOD (biological oxygen demand material). The filtrate is collected in a recirculating tank (7) and then pumped by pump (8) for dispersal, preferably by spraying through nozzles placed above the surface of the same media (5) for travel therethrough a second time. The media (5) retains the effluent until the surface tension of the effluent between the particles of the media (5) is overcome by gravity, at which time it is displaced from the media (5) and discharged. During the retention time, aerobic action in the media (5) reduces the bacterial count of the effluent significantly. The effluent from the septic tank (1) is preferably alternately distributed between a first area (4a) of the media (5) and a separate second area (4b) of the media (5) in order to allow continuous regeneration of the media (5) by avoiding a continuously ponded condition and by the action of the aerated effluent.
(FR) Un systeme de traitement sur place des eaux residuaires se prete au traitement des eaux domestiques ou autres eaux d"egout. Les eaux residuaires passent dans une fosse septique (1), puis l"effluent passe dans un bassin (3) de retenue des particules d"un milieu (5) au travers duquel passe l"effluent. Le milieu (5) enleve une quantite substantielle des solides en suspension dans l"effluent et une certaine partie du BOD (materiau biologique de demande en oxygene). Le filtrat est recupere dans un reservoir de recirculation (7) puis il est pompe par une pompe (8) en vue de sa dispersion, de preference par atomisation au travers d"ajutages places au-dessus de la surface du meme milieu (5) qui le traverse une seconde fois. Le milieu (5) retient l"effluent jusqu"a ce que la tension superficielle de l"effluent entre les particules du milieu (5) soit depassee par la force de gravite, moment auquel il quitte le milieu (5) et est decharge. Pendant le temps de retenue, une action aerobie dans le milieu (5) reduit considerablement la teneur bacterienne de l"effluent. L"effluent provenant de la fosse septique (1) est distribue alternativement entre une premiere zone (4a) du milieu (5) et une seconde zone separee (4b) du milieu (5) de maniere a permettre une regeneration continue du milieu (5) en evitant des conditions de stagnation et par l"action de l"effluent aere.
