(EN)The rate of filtration of a coal liquid slurry is increased by adding an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and an alcohol containing 2 to 10carbon atoms to the slurry prior to filtration or by adding the alcohol to the slurry and washing a precoat cake of filter aid with an oil solution of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer prior to filtration. Although the ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and the alcohol each provide a filter rate improving effect when used alone, a synergistic improvement in filtration rate is achieved by their combined use.
(FR)Le taux de filtration d"une boue liquide de charbon est augmente par addition d"un copolymere d"acetate de vinyle ethylene et d"un alcool contenant 2 a 10 atomes de carbone a la boue avant la filtration ou par addition de l"alcool a la boue et lavage d"un gateau de precouche d"aide de filtration avec une solution huileuse d"un copolymere d"acetate de vinyle ethylene avant la filtration.
