(EN)This kinetic energy absorber device relates mainly to the absorption of high energy shocks which result from the collision of obstacles by all kinds of moving bodies of vehicles. This device is comprised of an undeformable male penetrator (29) and a ductile metal receiver female part (27). One of these two members is integral with the moving body whereas the other one is subjected to the action of the obstacle which is opposed to the motion of the moving body. Under the shock effect, the penetrator is engaged into the female part that is deformed plastically. It is this plastic deformation work which absorbs the major part of the kinetic energy. The female part is made preferably of austenitic steel with unstable austenite. This device allows particularly the absorption of violent shocks by motor vehicles.
(FR)Le dispositif absorbeur d"energie cinetique qui fait l"objet de l"invention concerne principalement l"absorption des chocs de haute energie qui resultent de la rencontre d"obstacles par tous types de mobiles ou de vehicules. Ce dispositif est constitue d"un penetrateur male indeformable (29) et d"une piece receptrice femelle (27) en metal ductile. L"un de ces deux organes est solidaire du mobile tandis que l"autre est soumis a l"action de l"obstacle qui s"oppose au deplacement du mobile. Sous l"action du choc, le penetrateur s"introduit dans la piece femelle qu"il deforme plastiquement. C"est ce travail de deformation plastique qui absorbe la majeure partie de l"energie cinetique. La piece femelle est realisee de preference en acier austenitique a austenite instable. Ce dispositif permet en particulier l"absorption des chocs violents subis par les vehicules automobiles.
