(EN)A disposable centrifugal separator for separating contaminants from contaminated oil. The centrifugal separator has a shroud (11) which defines a first chamber (12) and has a hollow rotor (21) rotatably mounted in the first chamber (12) and defining a second chamber (23). Oil under pressure is admitted to the second chamber (23) through concentrically arranged tubes or spindles and past a low pressure shut-off valve (40). The oil flows into the first chamber (12) through tangential reaction nozzles (27, 28) in the rotor (21) to cause contaminants to migrate toward the sidewall of the second chamber (23) under the influence of centrifugal force. The shroud (11) and rotor (21) are permanently closed so that the entire assembly may be discarded when a significant amount of contaminants has been deposited on the sidewall of the second chamber (23). A baffle screen (55) is mounted between the tangential reaction nozzles (27, 28) and an outlet port (20) in the first chamber to dissipate the build up of fluid on the inner sidewall of the first chamber (12), which would tend to interfere with the rotation of the rotor.
