(EN)The process for desalination of sea water employs a main electrochemical generator of which the anodic compartment is traversed by water to be desalted and causes in the solution the formation of chlorates and perchlorates, of which the elimination is effected by a potassium salt such as potassium bicarbonate. The insolubles are separated from the solution, whereas the residual salts which are dissolved therein are oxidised at the anode of secondary electrochemical generator(s), in the form of precipitable and eliminable persalts by decantation of filtration. The insolubles obtained during the different phases of this processing may be decomposed by heating, electrolysis or by means of a strong acid such as hydrochloric acid. All or part of the power consumed during the desalination may be supplied by the main electrochemical generator and the secondary electrochemical generators mentioned hereabove. This process may be applied for providing fresh water for agricultural, industrial or domestic purposes.
(FR)Procede de dessalement de l"eau de mer mettant en oeuvre un generateur electrochimique principal dont le compartiment anodique est traverse par l"eau a dessaler et qui provoque dans la solution la formation de chlorates et perchlorates, dont l"elimination est assuree par un sel de potassium tel que le bicarbonate de potassium. Les insolubles sont separes de la solution, tandis que les sels residuels qui y sont dissous sont oxydes a l"anode de generateur(s) electrochimique(s) secondaire(s), sous la forme de persels precipitables et eliminables par decantation ou filtration. Les insolubles obtenus au cours des differentes phases de ce traitement peuvent etre decomposes par chauffage, electrolyse ou action d"un acide fort tel que l"acide chlorhydrique. Tout ou partie de l"energie consommee au cours du dessalement peut etre fournie par le generateur electrochimique principal et les generateurs electrochimiques secondaires cites ci-dessus. Ce procede peut etre mis en oeuvre pour la fourniture d"eau douce a usages agricoles, industriels ou domestiques.
